My writing journey
Share
Every story has a beginning even for author's.
In this post, I'll share how I fell in love with storytelling, what sparked my writing passion, and how that journey led me to self-publishing.
Where it all began
My love for writing srted when I was about six years old. i didn't understand technique or structure, I just jnew that putting words on a page made me feel alive. That simple joy of storytelling has stayed with me ever since.
Over the years, I wrote everything: Short stories, fantasy adventures even stories I didn't even finish. But now, I've found where my heart truly lies: Dark romance and fantasy.
These genres allow me to explore love, pain, mystery, and many more, all through magical or emotionally intense worlds.
Of course like many writers I've faced many strugles along the way.
- Writer's block
- Rejections
- self-doubt and low confidence
There were days I questioned whether I was good enough. But despitee it all, I never truly gave up.
For now I already had one really big milestone. That is finishing the first full draft of my debut novel. It is a moment I won't forget. Ofcourse it wasn't perfect, but it was complete. and that sense of accomplishment reminds me that I can do it.
The novel is called frozen memories, it is a dark romance fantasy.
It's emotional, suspenseful and full of slow burning tension. I can't wait to share more of it.
Writing can me an emotional struggle, and honestly? It can be hard to keep yourself motivated. It's the support you need to continue. On of my biggerst support groups come from Book Besties on TikTok. Their encouragement, exitement and love for this story keeps me pushing through the hard days. Seeing their reactions gives me the motivation I somethimes struggle to find in myself.
Why do I want to self publish? For me the biggest reason is, is that a lot of publishers here in the netherlands will edit your story if they don't like a part or don't even wanne work with you. I just want to tell my story's the way I want to. For the juridish stuff I still need to figure that out.
But keep in mind, my journey has just begon and I have still a long way to go. But I've already come so far. From a little girl with a big imagination to someone chasing her publishing dreams, I've learned that persistence community make all the difference.
